Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good candidate for extensions?

Literally anyone can wear hair extensions! The typical use is to provide longer, thicker, fuller hair, who doesn’t want that? They can also be used to disguise a bad haircut or even add color without compromising the natural hair. (ex highlights w/out the bleach)

Does my hair have to be a certain length for extensions?

Yes, for the standard 18 inch wefts the clients hair needs to be shoulder length or longer to achieve a good blend.

If your hair doesn’t touch your shoulders you can still add fullness and a few inches of length, every case is different.

How long do hand tied extensions take to install?

Your first appointment can be anywhere from 3-5 hours depending on which services you are receiving.

Move up appointments will only take up to two hours if a color service is not included.

How long does the hair last?

The hair itself can last anywhere from 8 months to a year, depending on lifestyle and products used at home.

How often do I need to come in to tighten them?

Every 6-8 weeks, but most commonly 8.

Can I put my hair in a ponytail?

Absolutely! You may put your hair up, half up, braids, and top knots.

Can I wear my extensions straight or do I have to curl them?

You can wear them straightened with a flat iron (using proper heat styling protection), air dried, curly, or wavy.

What determines the price of the first appointment?

I strive to give my clients the best hair on the market. I want your extensions to last and be as easy to maintain as your natural hair. This means a  high quality product, cuticles in tact, no shedding and matting. The hair itself is a big ticket, but the only way to deliver effortless hair is to not cut any corners.

How do I know how many rows to install?

The standard amount of rows for length and fullness is two, but we will determine the best suited for you during our consultation.

Are there any products I shouldn’t use on the extensions?

Yes, be wary of common sunscreen getting on your hair. This can turn the hair pink/peachy and cannot be cancelled out with color. We recommend a mineral sunscreen (coral reef safe) that is “Avobenzone” free

Will extensions damage my natural hair?

Damage is definitely a possibility if they are not installed correctly, this goes for any method. I have trained in a handful of extension methods in order to take as much precaution to keep your natural hair healthy and strong.
